Are you looking to become an appliance repair technician? If so, you've come to the right place. At Dyer Appliance Academy, we provide comprehensive training that is accessible and affordable to help technicians master their craft and support appliance repair owners as they build more profitable businesses. In this article, we'll discuss the different ways you can learn appliance repair, what to expect from the trade, and if it is the right choice for you. Appliance repair education includes hands-on training.
At the end of the program, you will learn how to maintain and repair appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and clothes dryers. Instructors teach students how these devices work. They also show them how to fix and diagnose problems, and then how to make the necessary repairs. At Dyer Appliance Academy, we offer a series of interactive, online and self-paced training courses.
In addition to a reference book that you will request from Amazon, you can access all the course material online. When you're ready to study, all you need is an internet connection and a computer or device, and you're good to go. Each course consists of a series of modules. And each module consists of units of instruction.
Think of them as lessons, each with a quiz you must pass to advance to the next unit (or module). If you want to receive a Master Samurai Tech certification, you must achieve 80% or more in all the questionnaires in your unit, plus at least 90% in the module, midterm and final exams (where applicable). On unit tests and module exams, you have 2 attempts to get the score you are satisfied with. If you need more help in a class, our orientation of each course describes in detail the structure of the questionnaire and the exam. Since all coursework is done at your own pace, the time to complete courses varies by student.
But we can give you a general idea. If you work at a steady pace, doing at least 4-6 lessons per week, you can complete the main device repair training in about 2 months, and the other technical courses in about a month each. On the other hand, if you are studying Core full time, it can be completed in a matter of a couple of weeks. Technicians who have a stronger background in electricity and are more comfortable in a learning environment (studying, taking exams) will be at the shorter end. Technicians who are new or need our most interactive help to master the material will take longer. The times also assume that a student is carefully watching each video, taking notes and reviewing the most difficult material.
In other words, really try to master the material. Technicians who are going significantly faster than the times listed below may be taking shortcuts, resulting in lower retention. It is a range of 140-220 hours for the 5 courses, with an average of around 175 hours. All work is done online, so any computer or mobile device that can access the internet should be fine. However, some browsers are not fully compatible with the teaching software and can cause various difficulties, including interference with video playback. The short answer is that our training will help you work on any brand and model, both old school and modern.
Problem solving is the skill that costs a lot of money because it takes work to acquire it. But we'll explain it to you at the Samurai Master Technology Academy and you'll be on your way to becoming an expert in problem solving. You will be the person other technicians contact when they are perplexed; you will have become a teacher yourself. It will make it look easy (and that's because it is once you have the knowledge of the Core Appliance Repair Training course). Although Master Samurai Tech training is primarily aimed at residential appliance repair technicians, our focus is on teaching fundamental topics and techniques rather than training on specific products. This means that our courses are highly applicable to commercial applications.
If you want to improve your professionalism as a technician including your customer service skills and focus on every service call be sure to sign up for our technician or business package. These packages include content not found in the main courses that will help you become a better home appliance repair professional. And if you want to improve the skills of your office staff to better support your customers and technicians be sure to check out our 5-star customer service course. As you can imagine, the answer to this varies depending on the student's background and experience, and what their current situation is. Perhaps the most important consideration is how much effort the student puts into their studies. But here are some guidelines to help you get an idea of what you might expect: The ideal situation if...
